Two Months Old

Thank you Huffmans for my super cute hat!
Elijah is two months old (as of last Saturday). We had his two month appointment today. He grew from 24 1/2 inches & 12lbs 9oz at one month to 25 3/4 inches & 14lbs 13oz! We thought Isaiah was a big boy but Elijah is proving he can out grow him!

Over the last month Elijah's social personality has really started to show. He still sleeps a whole lot but when he is not sleeping or eating he wants someone to sit and talk to. He will coo and smile and just melt Momma's heart. Even Isaiah has started to take an interest in this little person that makes so much noise. Isaiah doesn't really want to touch or hold him but will give him air kisses and smile at him, oh and suck on his paci!

Christmas Train
This month, Elijah has discovered his right hand and loves to suck on it when he isn't cooing away. He can also lift his head and look around for a bit and doesn't really mind being on his belly, except when he hasn't pooed in a couple days. Elijah now sleeps both for naps and at night in his crib. He still is not sleeping through the night but he is only waking 1-2 times which is too be expected with as big as he is. Also this month, Elijah's hair appears to be getting a little lighter though it is defiantly still brown.  His blue eyes have lightened some and I know I'm biased but I think it's the most beautiful shade of blue in the whole world!

Christmas Train

This month has been a busy one for the family. Just after his one month birthday, we went to meet Olivia Carpenter and catch up with her mom, dad and big brother at the Koehler's. Miss Madison even got to hold Elijah! Elijah experienced his first OSU/Michigan game (even if he slept through almost all of it).  Great Aunt Lois came to meet him and over Thanksgiving Uncle Steve and Aunt Karen came from Indy to meet him. Uncle John, who was released from the Navy, is back from CA and came to visit last week. For Elijah's two month birthday he went with Momma, Dad, Isaiah, and Grandma and Grandpa Steiner on a ride on the Christmas Train. He slept almost the entire time which means it was a success, enjoyed by all.

Isaiah really likes Uncle Steve's tablet

We are so truly blessed! Looking forward to more sweet moments! Merry Christmas All!

One Month Old

Well, we made it one whole month as parents of two. It sure was a fast month.

We welcomed Elijah James on October 15th at 1:31 PM. He weighed in at 10 lbs, 4 oz and 21 inches long. That morning we arrived at the hospital at 6AM for an induction and things progressed nicely. Here are some pictures of him at the hospital including a visit from his cousins and Aunt Shannon and Uncle Aaron.

Ready to go home!

Nathan was able to be home for two weeks starting the day he was born and that was a big help. We were even able to sneak out to the pumpkin patch on one of his last days home for a little family outing.

Elijah took right to nursing and is a big fan of filling his tummy. He eats well and is showed excellent growth at his first couple birth follow-up appointments. He goes in tomorrow for his one month check-up and it will be interesting to see just how much more he has gained. He definitely FEELS heavier! He is so strong and doesn't mind being on his tummy. He will lift his head and look back and forth for several minutes before he is ready to be rolled back over.

Elijah likes to sleep but as he becomes more aware of his surroundings, he sometimes needs a little help blocking out the noise of an older brother to get to sleep. He is still sleeping during the night in our room but during the day he has been sleeping in his crib in his room. He seems to really like the crib and enjoy looking at the stars on the crib pad while he drifts off to sleep. We are not in any routine yet but so long as we don't have long crying fits, I'm okay with whatever he wants to throw our way.

We gave Elijah his first (and only) sponge bath on Oct 20th. About a week later he lost his stub on his belly button. We, including big brother Isaiah, gave him his first real bath on November 2nd. Isaiah enjoyed it much more than Elijah did and Isaiah was almost as wet as Elijah by the end of it!

Elijah James, you are one precious little guy and we are so happy you have joined our family.
